China becomes the largest export market in Namibia

According to data released by the Namibian Bureau of Statistics on the 19th, in the first quarter of this year, Namibia’s exports to China accounted for 18.3% of its total exports, and China surpassed South Africa to become the largest export market in Namibia.

Namibia mainly exports ore, non-ferrous metals, aquatic products and leather products to China, while importing textiles, furniture, machinery and electronic products from China.

In the first quarter, South Africa ranked second in the Namibian export market with an 18% share, followed by Belgium, Botswana and Italy, accounting for 13%, 10% and 8% respectively.

At the same time, the imports of this southwest African country are mainly from South Africa, Bahamas, Zambia, China, Botswana, and imports from these countries account for 78% of total imports in Namibia.
