Dong Nai province’s textile and apparel and footwear exports exceeded US$3.5 billion

The Dong Nai Provincial Bureau of Statistics revealed that in November 2019, Dong Nai’s exports reached US$11 billion, a year-on-year increase of 5.56%. The export of two major export products, including textiles, clothing and footwear, exceeded US$3.5 billion.

The export of footwear in Dong Nai province reached nearly 2.4 billion US dollars, an increase of 15.6% compared with 2018; the export of textile and apparel reached 1.13 billion US dollars, an increase of 3.7%.

The Vietnam Leather Footwear Association believes that the Vietnamese footwear industry still maintains a competitive advantage in the traditional market.

In addition, the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (CPTPP), which came into effect in early 2019, provides opportunities for footwear to expand into the potential of the Americas market, including Mexico and Canada.

The Department of Industry and Trade of Dong Nai Province believes that in addition to the improvement of the production capacity of Vietnamese enterprises, the value chain of the Vietnamese textile and garment industry has also been improved, and foreign direct investment funds have continued to flow into the Vietnamese textile and garment industry. The local textile and apparel industry is transforming into advanced production methods.

In addition, in the first seven months of this year, machinery and equipment exports amounted to 935 million US dollars, wood products reached 860 million US dollars, yarns reached 865 million US dollars, and steel reached 428 million US dollars.

The export markets of Dong Nai’s enterprises are mainly the United States, Japan and China. In addition, Dong Nai has higher exports to markets such as South Korea, Belgium, Thailand, Germany and Australia, accounting for 2.4%-5.3% of the province’s total exports.
