Hainan's foreign trade import and export doubled in the first two months

In January-February 2019, the total import and export value of Hainan’s foreign trade was 16.18 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 114.9%, higher than the national growth rate of 114.2 percentage points over the same period.

In the first two months of this year, Hainan’s foreign trade exports reached 4 billion yuan, an increase of 81.6%; imports reached 12.18 billion yuan, an increase of 128.7%. In February, the total import and export value of Hainan’s foreign trade was 6.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 95.3%, of which imports were 5.2 billion yuan, up 119.6%; exports were 1.4 billion yuan, up 38.4%. In January-February, Haikou, Zhangzhou (including Yangpu) and Sanya were the top three foreign trade import and export companies in Hainan.

In January-February, the United States, ASEAN and the European Union were the top three trading partners of Hainan, of which the import and export of the United States was 4.61 billion yuan, an increase of 319.1%, accounting for 26.5% of the total import and export value of Hainan’s foreign trade; the import and export of ASEAN was 3.36 billion yuan. The growth rate was 72.3%, accounting for 20.8%; the import and export to the EU was 3.28 billion yuan, up 205.1%, accounting for 20.2%. In addition, Hainan’s import and export to Australia, Japan and Chile showed a significant growth.

In terms of imports, the import of Hainan foreign trade aircraft in January-February was 4.91 billion yuan, accounting for 40.3% of the total value of Hainan’s foreign trade imports; the import duty-free goods was 1.46 billion yuan, an increase of 30%. In terms of exports, Hainan’s foreign trade exports of refined oil reached 1.55 billion yuan in January-February, an increase of 538.2%. Exports of polyester chips, paper and cardboard, and urea continued to grow.

Haikou Customs said that in the future, it will vigorously promote the deep integration of the customs inspection business in the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Zone (Hong Kong), and strive to improve the level of trade facilitation and promote the steady growth of Hainan’s foreign trade.
