Imported 104,000 vehicles in September

According to the data analysis published by the General Administration of Customs compiled by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in September 2020, the value of automobile imports and exports continued to increase month-on-month and year-on-year, and the increase was significantly higher than the previous month. In September, the total value of import and export of auto goods was 15.65 billion US dollars, an increase of 16.0% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 27.8%. Among them, auto merchandise imports amounted to US$8.61 billion, a month-on-month increase of 21.1% and a year-on-year increase of 36.9%; auto merchandise exports amounted to US$7.04 billion, a month-on-month increase of 10.4% and an increase of 18.1%.

From January to September, the total value of imports and exports of auto commodities was US$103.04 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 12.4%, and the rate of decline narrowed by 3.9 percentage points from January to August. Among them, auto merchandise imports were US$53.08 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 11.8%; auto merchandise exports were US$49.96 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 12.8%.

In September, a total of 104,000 vehicles were imported, an increase of 22.4% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 23.8%; the value of imported vehicles was US$5.45 billion, a month-on-month increase of 29.8% and a year-on-year increase of 33.2%. The export of complete automobiles was 102,000 units, an increase of 17.2% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 5.6%; the export value was US$1.43 billion, an increase of 12.0% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 2.9%.

From January to September, a total of 618,000 vehicles were imported, a year-on-year decrease of 21.2%; the value of imported vehicles was US$30.01 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 17.6%. A total of 709 thousand vehicles were exported, down 23.2% year-on-year; the export value was US$10.73 billion, down 10.6% year-on-year.

In September, the import value of auto parts was US$3.16 billion, a month-on-month increase of 8.4% and a year-on-year increase of 43.8%; the export value of auto parts was US$5.6 billion, a month-on-month increase of 10.1% and a year-on-year increase of 22.7%.

From January to September, the import value of auto parts was US$23.08 billion, down 3% year-on-year; the export value of auto parts was US$39.22 billion, down 13.5% year-on-year.

According to data released by the China Automobile Association, from January to September 2020, the top ten auto sales companies are SAIC, FAW, Dongfeng, GAC, BAIC, Changan, Geely, Great Wall, Brilliance and Chery. Compared with the same period of the previous year, Changan’s sales growth rate exceeded 10%, FAW and Brilliance increased slightly, other companies all declined, and SAIC and Chery declined more significantly. From January to September, the above ten companies sold 15,314,100 vehicles, accounting for 89.47% of total vehicle sales.

From the perspective of Chinese brands, according to the statistical analysis of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, from January to September 2020, the top ten companies in terms of sales of Chinese brands are: SAIC, Changan, Geely, Dongfeng, Great Wall, BAIC, FAW, Chery, and Heavy Industries Auto and BYD (162.260, 3.88, 2.45%). Compared with the same period of the previous year, the sales growth of FAW and Sinotruk both showed rapid growth, while the growth rate of Changan was slightly lower, and other companies showed a certain decline. From January to September, the above ten companies sold 7,145,300 vehicles, accounting for 84.19% of the total sales of Chinese brand vehicles.
