Liberalization of International Trade in Services and China's Countermeasures

With the development of global economic integration, the liberalization of trade in services has become an irreversible trend. Since the 1980s, the international service trade has developed rapidly and its rate of development has far exceeded the trade in goods and has become the “new engine” for promoting global economic growth. With the development of global economic integration, the liberalization of trade in services is no longer a Reversal of the trend. Since the 1980s, the international service trade has developed rapidly and its speed of development has far surpassed the trade in goods and has become the “new engine” for promoting world economic growth.

In the past decade or so, China’s trade in services has been growing rapidly at an average annual rate of about 15%. However, it still lags behind the trade in goods with a long-term deficit. In a sense, the active development of international trade in services and the liberalization of international trade in services will be one of the most important elements of international economic cooperation in the 21st century. After years of hard work, China has successfully joined the WTO. The opening up of the service industry has increasingly become the focus of China’s opening up. There are still many problems in the development of service trade in our country. For example, the overall competitiveness is weak, the lack of competitive advantage, the irrational development structure, the imperfect legal system and the backward management are the most likely obstacles to the development of China’s service trade in the future. In the field of international trade in services, China is still at the level of developing countries and therefore recognizes the important role played by the development of trade in services in the future economic development of our country. The foothold of developing countries should be focused on promoting economic development as a whole. They should increase their incomes not simply for export. Our country should increase its producer services with the theme of information technology services, the same as China.
