The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam held a docking forum with various provinces and cities in the Jiulong River Delta on the sale of agricultural products.
At the forum titled “Measures to Strengthen the Sustainable Development and Sales of Key Fruits in the South”, Le Thanh Song, Deputy Director of the Plantation Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, revealed that the production of key fruits in the South is expected to exceed 7.3 million tons in 2022.
The director of the Plant Protection Bureau, Le Van Te, said that Vietnamese dragon fruit, mango, lychee, longan, rambutan and milk fruit have been exported to the United States. At present, the negotiation process of selling Vietnamese pomelo to the United States is entering the final stage. The US market is expected to open up for Vietnamese pomelo in the next few months.
In addition, Vietnamese dragon fruits, mangoes and lychees have been exported to Japan, and negotiations are currently underway with the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries on cold chain preservation of longan.
China has approved the import of Vietnamese passion fruit. The negotiation process to export durians to China is in the final stages. It is estimated that China imports durians worth an average of US$4.2 billion each year, of which imports from Thailand account for 60%. If Vietnamese durians are approved to be exported to the Chinese market through normal trade channels, they will have more competitive advantages in terms of price.
