Vietnam's tuna exports to China have increased significantly

Since August 2021, Vietnam’s tuna exports to various markets have been on a downward trend, but tuna exports to the Chinese market have increased significantly, especially in the first half of September this year, which increased by 332% year-on-year.

Data from the General Administration of Customs of Vietnam shows that China is gradually increasing its imports of frozen tuna and canned tuna encoded with Vietnam HS0304.

Nguyen Xia, a tuna market research expert of the Vietnam Fisheries Processing and Export Association, said that there are 23 tuna export and processing companies in Vietnam that export products to China. If the epidemic prevention and control situation in the Jiulong River Plain area improves, companies resume work and production, and exports stabilize, Vietnam’s tuna exports to China will maintain a high growth momentum.

In the first August of 2021, Vietnam’s tuna exports to China reached 3.6 million U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 63%.
